About Antigua
Antigua is a sailor's island through and through. English Harbour — once the Royal Navy's principal Caribbean base — is one of the finest natural harbours in the world, and Nelson's Dockyard within it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site still very much in use by the sailing community. The island claims 365 beaches, one for every day of the year, and the protected waters of Falmouth Harbour host some of the Caribbean's most prestigious regattas, including Antigua Sailing Week every April. The north and east coasts are wilder, with dramatic bays and reefs that reward the exploring sailor. Neighbouring Barbuda — just 28 miles north — adds a rare dimension: a nearly flat coral island with a pink sand beach and a frigate bird sanctuary that is simply extraordinary.
